Are you exactly the person that you wished to be? Do all your surrounding people accept and treat you the way you expect? Are you satisfied with your career and the way you lead your life? If not, what did you do wrong, how can you get rid of all these and be happy in the rest of your life?
The fallacy goes like: if one does not get respect from the society, many people cannot be wrong; it is because one doesn't qualify to be respected, if one is not paid high, it is what one deserves. She or he could not contribute as much as it requires to be paid highly as she or he expects. When people in the market are ready to pay premium price for quality products and services why does she or he get low? It is because people get one's service very easily that is her or his service is easily available in the market at a cheap rate.
So, where is the root of all our disappointments? It is because we are on the wrong feet. Let me, with due respect, ask you few more questions – If I ignore you will you yet care for me? Will you still have regards for me if I hate you or deprive you? Can you live alone? Do you really serve the society before you ask something from it? Will you give me something if I don’t pay you duly?
The truth is that, serving the society is the only means of the total freedom and to earn one’s own name, fame, money and power. You basic approach will decide your future. Your focus merely on your self-interest is self defeating as it antagonizes others, create more enemies. It is the natural consequence of competition. What you should focus on is to have a social key position.
You should try to play a key role in solving a social problem. When you take care of others, you don’t antagonize anybody, rather you make everybody your friend, and you make the society feel that it needs you. And you become secured as only by serving the society or people you can prosper. Now how to do that?
Tap your hidden value: identify your special strength. While conducting a workshop on career-making for college students, we asked them to write - What do you like to do most? Some students wrote very funny things: "I like to sleep", "Watching TV", "Chit-chat", ... Then we asked them, "Now think, how you can make a career out of this?" The students came out with very brilliant ideas: sleep-consultants, offering innovative ideas to serial producers, teaching through chit-chat.
Decide what problems you can solve.
Identify the opportunities in the situation: Find out who are suffering from the problem you can solve and tap the market.
Develop a network:
Tap your hidden value and dedicate that to serve the society. In other words, identify your unique strength; identify which problems of the people in the society can be solved employing your unique strength. Identify the target peoples’ group who are suffering from the problems you can solve. Start serving them.
Let it be your career and let this career help you to be independent, self-reliant and free.
